This Backstroke Start Device (patent pending) is an anti-slip, accelerated start device designed to reduce the potential for slipped starts during critical competitions when every second counts. The Backstroke Start Device contains a 65cm x 8cm nonslip wedge with a 10 degree angle off which a swimmer can push, providing much-needed traction when pool walls or touchpads are slippery. The wedge is easily adjustable, allowing swimmers to select their desired location of the wedge on the pool wall. After the swimmers' start, the wedge automatically retracts back to the housing compartment so as not to interfere with flip turns and touchpad interactions, eliminating the need for manual removal. The new backstroke start device (patent pending) from Colorado Time Systems helps to eliminate slips at the start of a race. The versatile design allows the device to be attached to nearly any starting block with either straps or anchors.
Anti-slip foot wedge. Easy to set up
Automatically retracts up and out of the water. Robust construction
Adapts to most starting blocks. FINA, USA Swimming, and US Masters Swimming compliant
Once in place, pull down the wedge to the desired location on the pool wall and lock into place. Once the swimmer has left the wall, the device will automatically retract up and out of the water until the next swimmer sets up for the next race without interfering with turns and finishes.
The concept for Colorado Time Systems came to fruition in 1972 when Hewlett-Packard engineers started the Test and Measurement division. This division focused on aquatics because of the need for precise measurements and from there CTS was born. CTS is committed to providing an extensive collection of high quality timing devices for athletes, teams, coaches, and fans.
